Joe Walaan joined Gleason with five years of experience in the areas of accounting, finance, and financial analysis. Joe focuses his efforts and offers expertise in fraud investigation, forensic analysis, litigation support, and business valuation.
Prior to joining Gleason, Joe was a member of the litigation department at Reed Smith where he managed the financial and practice management functions of the Intellectual Property, Life Sciences and Health, and Global Regulatory Enforcement practice groups. While at Reed Smith, Joe gained experience preparing detailed financial reports with analysis, increasing firm profitability through utilization and realization, and assuring achievement of the firm’s objectives in operational effectiveness and efficiency. Joe was also a Senior Accountant at PNC Bank in the Regulatory Reporting department where he prepared, analyzed, and maintained records of the organization’s financial activities in accordance with GAAP and in compliance with Section 404 of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act.
Joe’s strong background in financial reporting and analysis allows him to provide specific expertise in detecting and investigating fraudulent activity, calculating and quantifying losses and economic damages, and valuation consulting.
Joe also dedicates a fair amount of his free time to serving his community. Joe has been a youth group leader at his church since 2008 and has also been a part of the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Pittsburgh program since 2013. Joe enjoys being involved in the community and hopes to encourage others to get involved while also pursuing additional service opportunities.
